GEOMETRA OPAVA s.r.o. was founded by the record into the Register of Companies at the Regional Court in Ostrava, on 26th September 1991 for the purpose of running business in geodesy and cartography (Collection of laws; the Geodesy and Cartography Act no. 46/1971 and the regulation issued by ČÚGK no. 59/1973 about geodesic and cartographical works and products) in accordance with the Economic Code.
The founding partners were the former employees working on special projects of GEODEZIE Opava (a state enterprise). The company set up branch offices in three cities: Opava, Ostrava, and Olomouc. Ever since the firm started to compete on the geodesic market, the most up-to-date technical devices (Topcon equipment bought for the purpose of further sale) and production processes supported by CAD system MicroStation have been employed. On 1st January 1995 the company was granted a licence to exercise geodesic activities in accordance with The Trades Licensing Act (Collection of laws, Geodesy Act no. 200/1994 about the change and completion of some associated laws relating to its introduction). Within a short period of time, our company has become an important supplier of digital city maps and an administrator of engineering networks and projects concerning development of transport infrastructure. From a start, the company has focused on the creation of data for geographical information systems (GIS), especially on creation of digital cadastral maps. The company has also played an important part in construction geodesy. Thanks to the company's development and the use of special skills, the following activities (for which the company has a Trading Licence) have been developed:
